Ordering a translation into English in such cases is unnecessary and may result in extra costs, since the document would still need to be translated into Greek for official use in Cyprus.

What is a sworn translation, and when do I need it?
A sworn translation is an official translation performed by a sworn translator registered in the Republic of Cyprus. Such a translation is usually required when submitting documents to government bodies, courts, municipalities and other official institutions in Cyprus.
Do I need a sworn translation when submitting documents to an embassy?
Yes. A sworn translation is often required when submitting documents to many embassies and consulates*, including those of Russia, Italy, Spain, Greece, Romania and others. Specific requirements may vary by country and by document type.
*Please note that some embassies do not require a sworn translation or may accept another form of certification.
Do I need a sworn translation when applying for Cypriot citizenship?
Yes. When applying for Cypriot citizenship, foreign documents must generally be accompanied by an official translation. This requirement may apply to birth and marriage certificates, certificates of no criminal record, and other supporting documents.
Do I need a sworn translation for immigration purposes?
Yes. A sworn translation is often required when submitting documents for a residence permit, long-term residency, family reunification, and other immigration procedures in Cyprus.

A translation certified by affidavit is a translation accompanied by a written statement from the translator, made under oath, confirming its accuracy. Depending on the specific institution's requirements, one of these options may be required.
